Hardcore fans preferred the PC version because of the ability to customize rosters and such. For the last few years, many new features have been directed only to the consoles, and omitted from the PC game. This year, EA has still seen fit to axe the PC version, because they can no longer control the user experience (e.g. many buyers will think the game, and therefore EA, is crap)
