AIM Bots - Maybe not so bad?? (Score 1)

First of all, I think what angered people wasn't the bots themselves, but the manner in which they were forced upon the users. Second of all, AIM actually has the opportunity to create a new way of searching, something that is vastly different from google, yahoo, and msn type searching as it is now. They could make the search interactive and the relevance of the search results could be increased because, in a sense, the bot has been talking with you and maybe gathering information. To be sure, the purpose of the bots is to make AOL money, otherwise they would not have even bothered. But still, the idea of interactive searching presents itself here...
