Comment Really? (Score 0) 505

Seriously, they attribute it to analog watches being retro? I'm 18 and I wear one because it looks good. I used to wear a digital one but that was only because I didn't have the money to get a decent one. Seriously, how old are these writers, 50? To not realise the reason we wear analog watches is not because a mechanical device is cool but because the watch looks good. Fucking hell, it's not that hard to realise.

The problem with this list is multi-faceted. Remember, first, that the list was selected by the public. This is not something that art institutes generally do (have you ever heard of popular vote picking any other art display? What about one meant to introduce a new topic?)

You're right about popular vote being an entirely wrong approach. That's the only explanation for Halo 2 beating Psychonauts. Psychonauts is one of the funniest, innovative, and visually interesting games, whereas Halo 2 is the middle of a trilogy (and not the strongest of the three), where you play another Space Marine shooting aliens.

Finally, someone mentions this. This was the thing that bugged me most other than the retarded genres, why would Halo 2 be above Psychonauts in anything, Psychonauts is one of the best games I've played. It captivated me more than any other game I've played in a long time and finishing it didn't seem like a chore. It's difficultly was just right, it wasn't so piss easy that you could just walk through but it wasn't so hard that you take two steps and you're dead.

It also introduced a completely different set of gameplay mechanics and was so vastly different to other games it should have been a best seller. Unfortunately, people just follow the crowds and it became more of a cult classic. It did gain some attention when Yahtzee reviewed it but it should have received so much more acclaim than it did.

The lack of a right mouse button on the track pad is the main reason I would never buy a mac laptop

That's a pretty stupid reason, because you've always had either a right button or been able to treat part of the trackpad as a right button OR use Control+click as right button (which I think is actually a lot easier to use than a right button) OR use a hold-click kind of gesture to get to a right button alt click.

In fact the Mac has more ways to get to the alt menu than any other computer I can think of. To claim it does not have a right button is absurd.

I use ctrl+click as my middle button. Last time I used a Mac it kept clicking when I wanted to move and when I wanted to right click it was all "Fuck you, I won't do anything."

Comment Re:Why not just use Polymer notes? (Score 0) 441

It was actually 22 years ago and the only paper notes that I've seen are ones my mum kept. They aren't indestructible but they are damn well near it, the older notes, ones over 5 years at LEAST are the only ones that you'll find with tears in them. It also makes it easy to work out which note is which without too much effort and they are difficult to counterfeit.

I also don't know where you got the nicknames for the notes but no-one in NSW calls them that

Wow, you sound like you are with a crap bank. I have a general savings account at the Commonwealth, the only fees I get against my account is when I don't use a Commonwealth ATM(Inconvenient, like really.) and on some direct debit transactions. I don't have any account keeping fees and I have the option to have a 6% interest savings account on the same account.(Which I am going to make use of once I get my cheque for unused insurance)

That's the thing, if the person doesn't consent to the search they will have to call back into their superior officer(who most of the time isn't likely to be an idiot).

You also have to remember respect goes a long way with any policeman(well anyone for that matter). I've had multiple friends be pulled over for not having p plates on their car(whether it was because someone stole them or whether they fell off) and the ones that got off on a warning are the ones that aren't dickheads and would have treated the cops with respect.

I don't know where you are getting the no need for a search warrant, you need to have reasonable suspicion against you before they can search your car/premises and refusing a search is not reason.

I'm a P plater in NSW, and I'm in a town where the cops are jerks to most P platers. I do see them quite regularly but I haven't been pulled over once. All this fear mongering about the police having more power than they actually do is bull. People just need to learn to exercise their rights and not knowing them is their own stupid fault.
