Comment I've only had negative experiences with AMP (Score 1) 60

Admittedly my android phone is about 2 years old now, and not a top-end model, but AMP has given me nothing but trouble. From images loading unevenly and causing my screen to jump, unresponsive pages, images/videos cut off and unable to resize (and all the full screen buttons being exclusively on the right side doesnt help) There will be occasional problems like this elsewhere of course, but its so constant a problem that I've been actively avoiding AMP links and more than once have gone to a different search engine or attempted to go to the root site and search from there. Tl;dr: still needs a lot of work.

Comment Apple (Score 1) 221

Their "Walled Garden" approach to their customer base not only alienates people from other communities, but purposefully isolates their customers. From where I'm standing, Apple doesn't (currently) contribute anything to the greater good, just more drm'd hardware that you pay for but don't own. All of the rest of the companies on the list contribute to our networks, infrastructure, and culture, without being elitist snobs in a private pool. At least Jobs invested heavily in Pixar, otherwise his only legacy would be capitalism and turtlenecks.

It was the same age as me (10) and my dad scored it at a garage sale. I was instantly smitten, ignoring how incredibly out of date it was. I wrote my first attempts at fiction on it. I learned to code in QBASIC on it, went through dozens of early freeware/shareware games, my first *ahem* "Copied Floppy" - if you take my meaning. I later "upgraded" to an even older Trash-80 when someone donated it to my middle school GT lab. My teacher knew i was a Tandy guy, and also knew it was worthless to the school :) Fast forward to 1998: the Alaska PFD was huge that year and my dad dropped $1800 on a 450mhz Pentium 3 Gateway with a 20gig hard drive ("Youll never need more than that! ") and 64mb of ram... Lol. First upgrade brought me to 128mb of ram to play Diablo2 on launch day. :)
