Comment Had to upgrade from 5mbps up for remote learning (Score 1) 260

My wife and I work from home, and our family of 5 (3 children) saw our 100/5 mbps Comcast internet connection slow to a crawl when our children first started their distance learning courses through the Edmonds school district in Washington State. Apparently, all it takes are two people connected via Zoom conferencing to eat up that 5mbps bandwidth. I switched us over to Ziply Fiber 1 gbps service (which is really 800/800 mbps and pretty much all of the issues we were encountering disappeared over night. For basically the same cost, I was able to get onto the 1 gbps service which seems a bit overkill as I could have probably gotten away just as well with their 100/100 mbps service, but in hindsight I dont think I will ever opt for a service that delivers less than 100mbps upload ever again. Oh, and the kids stopped complaining about laggy console game play and ping times on their Minecraft servers.
