The constitution does not limit the freedom of the populace to do anything.

It gives the federal government specific powers, lists specific rights that the federal government is not allowed to infringe upon, and then specifically declares that anything not mentioned is a right reserved by the states and the people.

Of course, everyone just ignores the constitution these days. The federal government acts like it has unlimited power to do whatever it wants. And for the most part, the courts have agreed.

That reads a lot like a straw man. What does the size of data, ease of transfer, or convenience of copying have to do with paying someone for the work they have done? Music is just "data" now? How did we manage to listen to it before we had it in digital format?

What reform would you envision that made it acceptable? Personally, I'd like to see a 10 or 15 year limit on copyright lifespan. That would make it a lot more palettable than it is now, for me.

Actually, your article clearly states that the Intel processor uses less power than the Athlon toward the end. The point of that article to compare two *desktop* solutions, meaning complete motherboards.

In this case, the total AMD system uses less power than the total Intel system, which is noteworthy, but doesn't necessarily have any bearing at all on this particular laptop, or on the Atom processor itself.

OS X

iPhone Not Running OS X 476

rochlin writes "We know that Steve Jobs has said the iPhone won't accept third-party apps. The iPhone looks to be running on a Samsung provided ARM core processor. That means it's not running on an Intel (or PPC) core. That means it's not running OS X in any meaningful sense (Apple can brand toilet paper as running OS X if they like). Darwin, the BSD based operating system that underlies what Apple has previously been calling OS X, does not run on ARM processors. The Darwin / Apple Public Source licensing agreement says the source would have to be made available if it is modified and sold (paraphrased; read it yourself). A Cingular rep has said the iPhone version of the OS source will not be made available. It will be closed, like the iPod OS and not like Darwin. So if it ain't Darwin, it ain't OS X (in any meaningful way). An InfoWorld article on an FBR Research report breaks down iPhone component providers and lists Samsung as the chip maker for the main application / video cpu. So, that leaves the question... What OS is this phone really running? Not Linux or the source would need to be open."
