What would be really useful is to combine pushlets and JSON-Java-RPC and update individual parts of the client browser based on server pushing. This would allow great flexibility in scaling and fit nicely as a tool for things like real-time traffic, weather and news. An RMI-style callback is where I think this could be useful as well.
