Comment We truly are retarded (Score 1) 155

Why would I be waving the flag and declaring how great of a nation we are when the top stories of the day are about crowdfunding healthcare, dropping fact-checking on social media platforms, wet dreams about annexing sovereign nations, and now companies becoming pussies about how the right might perceive well-intentioned initiatives? Fuck us all.

If I could cut out industries that provide no value, such as the RIAA, why wouldn't I? They claim to represent the artists, but instead they profit from them under the guise of "protections" (remind you of any other organizations?). Now, I don't pretend to understand Indian music organizations, but I'd imagine they have similar schemes to fleece the artist.

The truth is... I just enjoy driving a manual. That's it, no justification. It doesn't make me safer in bad weather (my automatic allows me to select a gear going downhill), isn't more fuel-efficient, and doesn't beat an automatic in acceleration. I just enjoy the engagement of doing it during an otherwise lackluster commute. Just like my motorcycle - I don't use it to be safer (I'm obviously not) or save gas - I do it because it's fun. Full stop. When I go EV, the thrill of 0-60 in 2 seconds may replace the fun factor, who knows?

As one that grew up on vinyl and cassettes, I have to shake my head when people get all gushy over it. Here's the deal... that shit sucked. We used it because it was all we had. I have a hard time believing that your well-trained, superior ears can tell the difference between a China-special turntable and the elite Dildo-lator 1000 turntable. They equally suck. Nostalgia makes you dumb.
