Yeah, it's different in the USA for sure and hard to tell what's going to happen in the near future. FYI cheap air-to-air heat pumps (2-3kW) can be bought here in Sweden for 500-1000 $ with an additional installation cost of, I suppose, around 500$ as well. Larger systems like air-to-water or ground/geothermal-to-water is of course more expensive. Typically up to 15-25 000 $.

A lot of Swedish homes have had heat pumps for a long time now. I can assure you all that we have both plenty of hot tapwater and nice indoor temperatures.

Life here in Stockholm is pretty much business as usual. People are more careful in general and respect distance and so on.. there are of course always clusters of morons, that fit the worthless media picture perfectly. If you dig around the swedish data you'll find that approx 50% of all deaths due to covid here was old people living in nursing homes or having some kind of communal service taking care of them. The horrible story here is that it was a total fuck up during the first months. No protective gear, nursing home workers had to work with symptoms etc. Doctors have even systematically been ordering palliative care over the phone without even seeing the patients. There are a lot of people here in Sweden who deserve a place in hell. But.. this bizarre circus in which Sweden is the epicenter is just... Surreal.. We had 10-20% more deaths in April and May (or somewhere around that) compared to some years back. It is like 500-1000 deaths in total. June is back to normal if I remember correctly. Hello, Sweden is still alive! Get a fucking grip of reality. Apparently Sweden lost the Corona championship... Most of us here didn't even know that we were in it in the first place. It is still a tragic situation with many lives lost due to our social democratic politics. We have spent hundreds of billions on other things than preparing for things like this.
