I care not if it is patented, provided it recieves the appropriate attention. It only seems right that the "design" of this innovative (yet basic) idea be placed with multiple manufactorers, so that they may compete to create a better implementation.

This guy must be a quake-head. I've been dreaming about the day this device comes out for years (as I did with digital mice [which, btw, I'm very happy Logitech had the chance to create]). Next? Make it all wireless, and strap those puppies on your wrists. I want to be able to type and move my mouse at the same time, perhaps while picking my nose if I choose to. Now this is something that I would think deserves a patent. It pushes the basis for UI beyond something which could be analygous to addition, to something which would at least be ... multiplication ...
