ON his website http://infinitelyvariabletransmission.com.au/ he links to a report that he commissioned by an engineering firm. If you will read the report it actually goes into much more detail and explains most of this. Link to the report http://infinitelyvariabletransmission.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/dDrive-Transmission-Report.pdf It actually goes through many of the objections I have read here.

Submission + - School Laptop Spying Case More Info (philly.com)

AmISure writes: More news of the laptop spying scandal in lower merion school district. according to philly.com http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20100415_Lawyer__Laptops_took_thousands_of_photos.html More details are coming out about the school district using theft recover software to track students, and their computer activities. According to the Plaintiffs lawyer, who would never be biased, the school district had used the software 42 times this school year, and were using it in this particular case because the 55$ insurance fee hadn't been paid. One quote from the article, which is quoting from emails turned over by the district, "It was like a window into "a little LMSD soap opera," a staffer is quoted as saying in an e-mail to Carol Cafiero, the administrator running the program. "I know, I love it," she is quoted as having replied." Not looking good for the district. Also details legislative efforts to "ensure" this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

Comment Mod Parent UP there IS a RPG at 340 (Score 1) 1671

The cameras were not identified as an RPG. They were identified as AK-47s, mistakenly. There IS an RPG in the video, along with 2 REAL AK-47s. Look at 3:40. There is a group of 4 guys. 3 in a row, 1 in front of the guy on the right. Guy on the left has an AK-47 in his right hand, swinging around. Watch closely. Guy on the right has an AK-47 in his left hand or on his left shoulder, but hanging at his waist level. Watch it swing around at 3:52. Guy in the middle. CLEARLY has an RPG. You can see it swing around when he turns to look behind him. He even rests is on the ground and leans on it. Pretty obvious to me.

Somebody MOD PARENT UP. And while I am at it, how are you gonna bitch about somebody getting killed when he is hanging around with people that are killing soldiers? I mean when you wander around with guys that are running around shooting at folks that ARE gonna shoot back what do you expect??? The reason that the military protects the scene is that there were MANY incidents where people would run in and remove weapons. Since no-one is in uniform then you have an instant civilians. That means you have what appears to be an atrocity, when actually the soldiers did nothing wrong.

Submission + - Fed in Hot Water Over Secret Bailouts (csmonitor.com)

An anonymous reader writes: The Fed has finally came clean. It now admits it bailed out Bear Stearns — taking on tens of billions of dollars of the bank's bad loans — in order to smooth Bear Stearns' takeover by JPMorgan Chase. The secret Fed bailout came months before Congress authorized the government to spend up to $700 billion of taxpayer dollars bailing out the banks, even months before Lehman Brothers collapsed. The Fed also took on billions of dollars worth of AIG securities, also before the official government-sanctioned bailout.

Submission + - Stalker Jailed For Planting Child Porn On A PC (net-security.org)

An anonymous reader writes: An elaborate scheme to get the husband of a co-worker he was obsessed with locked up in jail, backfired on Ilkka Karttunen, a 48-year from Essex. His plan was to get the husband arrested so that he could have a go at a relationship with the woman, and to do this he broke into the couple's home while they were sleeping, used their family computer to download child pornography and then removed the hard drive and mailed it anonymously to the police, along with a note that identified the owner.
