What The Banned iPhone Ad Should Really Look Like 463

Barence writes "To demonstrate just how misleading the latest (and now banned) iPhone television ad really is, PC Pro has recreated it using an iPhone 3G and a Wi-Fi connection — with laughable results. Apple was forced to pull the advert today after the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) decided it exaggerated the speed of mobile browsing. 'In the 30-second clip the iPhone is shown loading a webpage, finding its current location in Google Maps, opening a PDF from an email and finally taking a phone call. The ASA concluded that the iPhone cannot do what was shown in the mere 29 seconds afforded in the advert, ruling that it was misleading.' Try it for yourself and you'll undoubtedly agree."

maybe so, but how many of those games from the past 8 years ('ll raise it up and say "games from this decade" not just the last 5) have you had the desire to go back and replay over and over? because i still whip out my NES, SNES, and Genesis, and they're still fun. but i haven't gone back and played through many of the games from this decade once I'd beaten them. I think that replay "over the years" is a better measure of gaming goodness than "hey, there's been tons of games that you liked and had fun playing." there's something missing from modern releases.

Oklahoma 'Games As Porn' Bill Now Law 200

simoniker writes "Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry has signed into law the State-specific Bill HB30004. The bill redefines a list of items, such as hardcore pornography, deemed harmful to minors to include videogames which use 'inappropriate violence'. The new Oklahoma law is due to come into effect from November 1st. The story notes: 'Despite being one of the more draconian anti-games bills put before a State senate, HB30004 has faced limited opposition, with apparently little concern being given to the consistent problems other similar bills have faced from legal challenges.'"

.yosh, who's totally cool I know him textd me to say that Wizards of the Coast is totally making a My Little Pony Roleplaying Game!! OMG! Now I don't have to play with that stupid dungeons and dragons book with all the impossibly clothed women characters. Ponies 4EVA! From the site: "If it's on Butterfly Island, it's in the My Little Pony RPG core rulebook, and we expect the book to be an invaluable tool for RPG fans and game developers alike,' said Jonathan Tweet, senior game designer with Wizards of the Coast. 'Not only will this RPG appeal to current fans of My Little Pony, but it will also help core roleplayers come to appreciate the depth and possibilities in this unique fantasy world. I know I did.'"

Yakubu Gowon's war (or whatever you want to call it) wasn't genocide it was a civil war. One colonel from the southeastern part of the country wanted to secede and the dominant ethnic group which he belonged to agreed with him, however the minority ethnic groups didn't want to have anything to do with it and this was just after a military coup/takeover. So please take that stuff of your list. It's interesting how you guys always think you know everything about the world, when in fact you don't. Read a little will you, Sheesh.
