When you were doing Star Trek you were about the same age I was when Sci-Fi meant the most to me.

Being that age, Gene's Utopia must have had a significant effect on your own ideals - whether you embraced it or rejected it. And your relationship with that (along with all of the Utopias created by Sci-Fi) must have changed significantly from then until now, being ever more involved with the real world. What has changes about your beliefs about the order of society, economics, governance and all the rest of it?

And specifically: Do you see "Utopia" as being more useful as a model to work towards or as a mechanism for demonstrating thoughts about the status quo?
