Well, I'm getting faster riding up the Sloc (I'm not sure what distance it is, but it's a 1000 foot hill climb that varies between purgatory and hell). Saturday it took me 39 minutes bottom to top, tonight it took 35 minutes bottom to top. I'm sure the Lance Armstrongs of this world would probably think this is pretty crap (I think he goes up gradients like this at around 20 mph, when most of us only do that on the flat!), but then again he's hugely strong and I'm not!
On the weekend I might just do a longer ride. I think I might go over the Sloc (Cronk ny Arrey Laa and North Barrule), and turn left at the end and join the TT circuit at Ballacraine (but instead of going all the way around the circuit, come off at the Sulby Glen pub and make a right turn to go up Snaefell which will be a punishing climb). It'll be a LONG ride and I'll probably be completely shagged out afterwards - it'll probably be around 50 miles when all's said and done. (I've done longer - I did the Hotter than Hell 100 when I lived in Texas, a 100 mile ride whose main attribute is that, well, it's hotter than hell. It's held in August). However, the Hotter than Hell is on a course that's almost as flat as a billiard table - no killer gradients!
But still... (Score:1)
