Yes, but that's what makes the wooden ones SCARY ! One reason people go on coasters is to feel *scared* or *out-of-control*...no? The *scariest* rides I've been in were wooden ones because we were always afraid the thing was going to break apart...and that chunka-chunka sound on the way up the main drop added to the feeling of fright. (as in "Ok, I may die here and there's nothing I can do about it now...") That moment of panic is quite unforgettable and I think that its part of any great ride. (wooden or metal)
