Comment Re:Xandros 2.0 Deluxe Review (Score 1) 126

I've been wanting to dump Microsoft Windows for years, the main problem I found with most Linux distributions in the past was they were not user friendly to the average home user; my time is important and it is better spent not trying to compile stuff that may not work. I tried many Linux distributions Red Hat, Mandrake, Suse, Debian, Corel, and the list goes on... I found Corel Linux version 2 nice but not quite there yet. Xandros Version 2 is what I need because we live in a Microsoft world and I need compatibility and something that is ready to go after it's installed; reality for average computer users is our time is better spent not compiling code. I'm a bit leary of Lindows, but they just came out with a version of Linux that supposedly runs nicely on labtops; they are still a hell of cheaper than Microsoft who vastly overcharges for their software. I've read this whole page and found that the negative critics of Xandros probably don't want normal home users to use Linux or maybe they expect normal home users to spend unrealistics amounts of time learning a operating system that has a history of not being user friendly. Wake-up guys do you want Microsoft to continue having it's monopoly on PCs? This time Microsoft crossed the line with their XP versions and their annoying product activation feature everytime someting is intalled. Xandros Version 2 seems to give me enough freedom to scrap Windows altogether; if enough of the PC market ever switches over to Linux, the windows cross-compatibility and looks can later be phazed out, as there will be no more need for these anymore. Easy to intall, easy to use, and easy to update are what average PC users want in an operating system. I have less time now-a-days for fiddling with OSs trying to make these work and I'm tired of dishing out big bucks to Microsoft; I hope that Linux will not only catch up with Microsoft in terms of user friendlyness but will also leave Microsoft back in dust by leading the industy rather than following; competition between distributions and KDE & Gnome can be good things.
