Based on your responses below, I know I'm pissing into the wind, but... just be patient. It will happen. For a pick-up, you will need more battery capacity than a car due to its additional weight and aerodynamic losses. Expect, for 300 miles range (how often do you need that much range? daily? occasionally?), to need around 120-150kWh of battery. Even with today's battery prices, that might be doable. The truck will push your $50K boundary pretty hard, but it is feasible. The battery itself, conservatively, will be around $25-30K. Add a truck body and its components and it will be close to $50K. With quick charging, the battery should be able to go from empty to full in around 1.5 to 2 hours. Most of the time you rarely completely discharge the battery, so for daily-driving purposes (which, in the US, is an average of 40 miles) it shouldn't take very long to charge, even at home. I've been driving electric for over 5 years now and it's great. A pick-up with that much range and an electric powertrain would be amazing!

Do tell. I've been driving electric for 5 years. The "fuel" is very inexpensive compared to gas. I have yet to go to a mechanic or dealership to have maintenance done.

Are you talking about HFS+ Case Sensitive? It's been there for years in Mac OS X, though it can cause issues with sloppy applications that rely on case insensitivity.

An anonymous reader writes: The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is apparently not-so-active. It should be the more durable version of the Galaxy S7 family but apparently it's not. Because of this, Consumer reports is not going to mark it as "Recommended" even though it performed very well in all the other tests it ran.
"Consumer Reports technicians placed a Galaxy S7 Active in a water tank pressurized to 2.12 pounds-per-square-inch, the equivalent of just under five feet of water, and set a timer for 30 minutes. When we removed the phone, the screen was obscured by green lines, and tiny bubbles were visible in the lenses of the front- and rear-facing cameras. The touchscreen wasn’t responsive.
Following our standard procedure when a sample fails an immersion test, we submitted a second Galaxy S7 Active to the same test. That phone failed as well. After we removed it from the tank, the screen cycled on and off every few seconds, and moisture could be seen in the front and back camera lenses. We also noticed water in the slot holding the SIM card.
For a couple of days following the test, the screens of both phones would light up when the phones were plugged in, though the displays could not be read. The phones never returned to functionality."

The player piano was supposed to kill live music. So was the radio. And, of course, every time this happens the press is willing to take the industry's word at face value. In 1980, the news program 20/20 posted a report all about how "home taping is killing music," with various recording industry execs insisting the industry was on its last legs unless something was done. Someone posted that 20/20 episode to YouTube a few years back, where it sat in obscurity until people noticed it a couple weeks ago. And suddenly, Universal Music issued a takedown notice for the show. Universal Music does not own 20/20, and there were only brief clips of music in the show. It appears the only reason for Universal to issue the takedown is that it doesn't want you seeing how badly it overreacted in the past."

An anonymous reader writes "'Officer Bubbles' — the Toronto Police Constable who was videotaped threatening a G20 protester with arrest for assault over the crime of blowing bubbles at a police officer has had enough of mocking videos and comments on YouTube. He has decided to sue everyone involved (commenters included) for more than a million dollars each. The complaint is detailed in his statement of claim — most of the comments seem fairly tame by internet standards; if this goes anywhere, everyone is going to have to watch what they say pretty carefully. The lawsuit appears to have been successful in intimidating the author of the mocking cartoons into taking them down."
