It was pretty fucking clear by April that 60,000 wasn't going to happen. 25,000 had already died and the infection rate and death rate were still rising fast. The number of deaths has been declining (or zero) in areas where the outbreaks were earlier. Every area goes through the process (ramp up, peak, decline). That is what viruses do.
