Casinos do cheat. Once on a craps table I was betting big... $300 a shot on long shots. After about a ten'ish fails, I won. Immediately they proceeded to tell me that there was a table maximum of $250 on the bet I was making (which turned out to be true) and returned $50 and paid off on the $250 max bet. But I protested that I wanted $50 back on each of the previous 10 bets too. They refused to do it claiming that they didn't know if I was betting above the max before and it was only discovered now. (This was a straight-up lie because the croupiers always know exactly how much is on the table.) I told them, they can go to the cameras and check. They refused. That's just one about about 5 stories I have where the casino straight-up cheated.

Google & Youtube are the biggest pirates ever. Youtube is half-built on piracy. And google just slops up all content it can and uses it without regard to IP rights until some lawsuit forces them to adjust and basically without any significant compensation.... Google Books, for instance. Somehow giant corporations get away with breaking laws while individuals get the smack down. Paraphrasing the song lyric, distribute one movie, you're a pirate, distribute all movies, and you're a multi-billion dollar internet tent-pole.

So dumb. I can't even begin to fathom how shallow an understanding of software a person must have to think "avoid open source" is the right way to promote security. All software has bugs. Some bugs will strike all software, sometimes even nasty bugs like with Log4j. But more eyes on code translates into better code. Sure a determined hacker will find a way to break it but they'll do this anyway. Open source doesn't cause bugs, it prevents them.
