"I mean, it's a bit hard to imagine people in the Middle Ages saying stuff like "back in the 50s" because life in the 950s was probably not much different than life in the 1350s, at least not in terms of culture or expectations." To you, living in the 21st century, there prolly isn't. Just like to someone living in, say, the 2500's there prolly won't seem to be a big difference in human culture/expectations between the 1950's and 1960's. I would hope some very big changes happen between now and then, eclipsing the importance of such minor (on the big scale) changes.
