I agree often in my work teams I had to write documentation for programs that didn't have it and do the test cases/proofs myself. Many of my coworkers refused to do such things and it made the job harder. Not only that but they would skip the analysis and design phase and just start coding without a plan or clue.
Management had encouraged cutting corners to get programs done faster, but it would often come back to bite us later.
I often had to rewrite code that someone else wrote and many would leave the company because of the level of difficulty and coworkers cutting corners. I was able to handle it and got part of the legacy software development in cleaning up after other programmers.
