Scenario: Kid is kidnapped, police see video from Ring showing the license plate. Police queue live database, find the car was just scanned by a connected car on i80 mile marker 127 Southbound 5 minutes ago. Minutes later police stop the vehicle, kid is saved.

Now tell me if that's worth the privacy?

Comment My HS daughter passed on a Macbook for Chrome (Score 1) 217

She has 2 chromebooks, 1 for personal and one school issued. I tried to give her a Macbook hand-me-down and she passed on it. It's not that she dislikes Apple, shes on her 2nd iPhone and can't stand Android. She just has no use for the Macbook. Has nothing to do with 'cheap'.

I disagree, it's still a matter of convenience. I'm not hailing a cab to run to the grocery store to grab a bag of cheese I forgot for the lasagna, or to run to Starbucks, or to ChikFila, or do Dunkin donuts, or to Home Depot, or to the craft store, or to the park, or drop kid off at sports, or to kids music lesson list goes on and on. And that was just over the weekend.
