I have more chance of going to the moon than Texas spending many billions of dollars on high speed Train Travel

In much of the rest of the world High Speed Trains go direct from city centre to city centre to cut down the last mile problem as much as possible plus when you get there you have onward travel options like train, bus, tram, taxi or even car depending on how far you need to go. The US rarely has anything but car and distances once you get off the train are often considerably further.

And you still have to get Americans out of their cars to take the train which seems to have very negative connotations in the US.

Speaking as someone who works in IT in Australia we have a hybrid model of WFH and in the office.

If the mob I work for was to mandate full time back in the office I can guarantee a raft of resignations within 3 months as people move to organisations that do support a more hybrid model.

Finding good people is hard here at the moment and they will vote with their feet.

Typical Guardian Bullshit.

Anything that isn't hard-left or from the rabid Socialists is "right wing".

It reads as serious pushback from individual Governments, Industry and Political groups which would point to the proposed legislation being too draconian in it's reach.

And any American's commenting on this have a serious fucking cheek considering how screwed up their environment is e.g. trains constantly derailing themselves on rickety tracks and dropping chemicals straight into the water or just plain catching fire.

In some Western Australia Iron Ore Mines, trains are driven remotely and dump trucks drive autonomously. Next is drill rigs. The aim is eventually only maintenance staff are needed at the mines. Staffing costs are astronomical as you have to pay huge salaries plus accommodation plus flights due to the remoteness and harsh conditions.

From what I have seen in my previous experience in Health Systems in the UK and Australia, there is a much stricter security and segregation on any system which contains patient information of any kind compared to normal day to day correspondence. The most patient information you would see on a document would be a surname and a URN identifier which will only yield personal info when you have access to the patient systems.

They aren't stealing it to feed a starving baby. Baby formula from the UK, Australia etc commands a big premium in China and other countries because it is absolutely guaranteed to be free of contamination etc or counterfeit.

Supermarkets were being stripped by Chinese of Baby Formula to send to China. Now they operate a purchase limit system.

On-line gambling also includes some very big companies who constantly advertise on TV, Radio and Internet. Their apps allow you to gamble on Footy (Australian Rules Football), Soccer, Rugby etc - Sport Betting to the Yanks. We also here have State Owned betting shops called the TAB - they are often in pubs etc

It's a very big business with international players behind them like Ladbrokes with many millions spent on their infrastructure. So the advertising spend is very, very big indeed

One thing the pollies are doing I can get behind. Gambling seriously destroys people and families yet it's being pushed like a drug. $310 million dollars a year in advertising is not chump change.
