I wasn't berating him. I was simply saying, it's not surprising.
And i wouldn't say that guy who couldn't tell me what a hashtable does, was an idiot. I just wouldn't call him a Software Engineer.
A hashtable is an important data structure that is used everywhere. I think you should have a basic understanding of such a common structure. What would have satisfied me is a basic explanation of the process that get and put go through. 45 minutes and i'm basically looking for answers to 2 questions, how a hash map works and an implementation of atoi. Asking that of a Senior Software Engineer should not be problematic.
Finally, the point of ReactOS is that Windows programs should run on it.
Yes, and unless I'm mistaken KDE on windows would run windows apps as well.
There is no reason to introduce KDE
THe reason, as I mentioned above would be to save them time from having to write a menu system and taskbar and ect. assuming KDE on windows was working well enough.
when you have to write things like explorer.exe and the whole shell that Windows programs expect to have. The "crap that they spend their time on" is making a binary-compatible Windows OS.
Yes, they'll have to make stuff work. Like explorer.exe. BUt they would save themselves much time.
You are completely wrong.
Haven't interviewed a few people with 'decades of experience', that is not surprising. I just interviewed a guy with 15 years of experience that couldn't tell me how a hash table works. But he certainly new a lot of buzzwords.
Slightly off topic, but I wonder why react OS doesn't switch to using kde as a window manager. you would think that would free them up from having to do a lot of the crap that they spend their time on. But maybe i'm wrong.
They're not dumb, they're just following an agenda that requires a bit of science denial now and then.
This is politicians in general. Just about anytime someone says "blah blah (democrats/republicans) blah blah" it can be applied both ways. Partisan politics are stupid, imo.
For global warming, it's because the rich assholes they toady to don't want to change the way they do business, even if it means destroying the nest we live in.[*]
You know what, even if man made global warming is real, the estimates that i've seen are a 1 degree rise in temperature and sea level rising a foot, over a century. And the only acceptable reaction, less you be labeled a denier is "LET"S DRASTICALLY ALTER OUR WAY OF LIFE AND BASICALLY FORGO MODERN LIFE AS WE KNOW IT". Have fun explaining that to someone when they can't get their medicine on time, because that diesel truck was causing too much pollution. Or countless other scenarios that are helped because of oil.
For creationism, it's because there aren't enough rich people to win elections, so they have to con various flavors of fools into voting against their own best interests.
That's right anyone who doesn't vote your way is a fool. You know what, it drives me nuts arguing with liberals/conservatives, but I almost always refrain from calling people stupid(and i regret the times i have done that). You know why? Because it's not really true. Besides which, lowering yourself to insults is usually just an indicator of a lack of an intelligent argument.
Related note, the junk food industry is fighting efforts to remove vending machines from gradeschools, because their profits are more important than the kids' health.
Personally I don't give a shit either way, it's the decision of the school and parents. Thankfully, people actually care about their children, if it's a big issue to them, they won't let the machines in.
We've evolved into a society where the haves only care about having more, fuck the consequences.
No, human beings don't evolve a whole lot (back to that science thing). People, like you apparently, just think you know better for other people than they do. Which leads to this sort of bullshit.
I'm a software engineer with 0 background in anything electrical. I've always want to tinker with stuff, and I had no clue places like this existed. I looked online for tutorials and such and never came across these things.
i was gonna make that joke too.
I use linux for real work and for facebook and youtube..
As a developer my OP was more of a joke about my dislike of the arrogance of developers in general. and what seems to be all to often the talking down to the testers.
telling the developer he's right about everything and the product is never broken, or the tester will get a tongue lashing.
Everything is better in europe.
Their healthcare, their food, their government, their women, their cars, their tv, their bathrooms, their internet.
I heard they all have supercomputers for their desktops but aren't allowed to tell us americans cus we'll be too embarrassed.
mean exactly Jack Shit after years of Republican rule.
Ahh america, where people want to turn everything into a partisan argument.
If you don't think destroying civil liberties is a bipartisan effort, you quite frankly are an idiot.
In the last year, we have a democrat president who thinks it's perfectly fine to assassinate american citizens abroad and who signed the shitty NDAA that says americans can be held indefinitely, which was pushed by republicans.
This is government getting stuff done, and comprising for the good of the country! lol
Do not underestimate the value of print statements for debugging.
