Go back and reread Linus's quote. He's not talking about standardizing the UI, he's talking about standardizing the inner workings, like how applications are installed.
No worries. It's on systemd's TODO list.

Sure, but around here distracted driving is much more of a concern and dwarfs the alcohol-related accidents.
So. That means that the car will have to shut down if it detects any sort of wifi device/LTE modem in the car.
We're already bombarded with ads wherever we go.
I can see it now: You're having a heart attack and need to dial 911. But wait! Your phone forces you to watch an ad for aspirin before you can place the call...
The foldable devices aren't ready yet for Apple to steal and put the Apple logo on.
Then they'll act like they invented it like they always do.
Mine's 34 years old.
It doesn't have all these computers in it (outside of fuel injection, which is very dumb - you can unplug sensors and the engine will still run.) It's very reliable and no gimmicks are needed.
I prefer driving it compared to newer cars (I've driven some newer cars - they all feel muddy, especially the steering.)
Or, failing that, does anyone know if there's a way to, I dunno, strip out UPSTREAM data from a specific device in your router settings?
I don't know if all routers can do this. Ubiquiti routers can for sure, assign a static IP to that device and block all traffic from that IP from going to the internet.
However, that will probably make it mostly useless as almost all of the "smart" things require internet to work.
mpv? Nope.
Haven't used it since they pulled lirc support. There's no kernel IR replacement for irexec, so it was removed off all my PCs and HTPCs.
Given all of the problems with their own updates being very unreliable, now users have to worry that a rogue advert as part of the OS may infect the computer? I'll bet the ransomware writers are quite happy. Wonderful...
I wish removable batteries would come back, I really do...
But it'll never happen. Consumers are cheap, they'll buy the cheapest battery on Amazon, then when their house burns down sue the phone manufacturer. Which is why they went away in the first place...
I hope Pocket is next on the chopping block, it has no reason to be in the main build of Firefox.
Windows 7 EOL is 2020, 8.1 is 2023.
That's true. I personally was waiting for 802.11omgwtfbbq to be released... seeing as those letters have no intrinsic meaning nor order.
When do we get reimbursed?
On February 31st, of course.
Still the EU does not try to limit the power of a car by say 200 hp and the weight by say 1500 kg, what is more than enough.
That would also remove all pure electric cars from the roadways. Even the Tesla Model 3 is ~1800kg. The Model S is even heavier, it's just as heavy as a 1/2 ton truck due to the batteries (~2200kg).
Ahem, be careful what you wish for. Electric cars that only go 30km on one charge won't be very useful.
I just had to replace my phone. I couldn't find any with a removable battery anymore, but the LG G7 I have now is IP68 certified, and guess what? It has a headphone jack...
