They aren't planning on building the world's biggest plant. They're planning on enlarging an existing plant to make it what would be the world's largest. To me that's an important distinction - to use their numbers, it isn't 11 gigawatts of new capacity, it's a 50% enlargement of an already existing plant - still a lot of power, but a lot less new power than the headline makes it seem.

I'm not sure that argument makes sense. Owner could release rights if that's the case - or even give specific approval to certain types of distribution. Saying you're just going to assume the owner doesn't care and you can therefore do what you want is pure hubris.

That's entirely untrue. This isn't gambling. Shorts are relatively new. Typical stock transactions are just a willing buyer and a willing seller. No one has to lose. And if you do lose it's just because you decided to sell when price was below what you bought for. Shorts are an entirely different thing. Shorts are betting on a companies stock failing, and doing it by borrowing a stock. You don't even buy the stock (initially).

You're right about everything you say except for what the biggest expenses are. By far the largest is social security, but that's followed by health, income security (retirement, unemployment, housing assistance, etc), national defense is 4th/5th, effectively tied with medicare. Interest is all the way down at 7th. Now, it's still huge (~8% of the budget), so your point isn't lost. Just clarifying.

Ted Lasso, For All Mankind, Severence, the Morning Show, Jon Stewart, etc... there's a lot to like about ATV+, especially for like $7/mo or whatever it is. But what does that have to do with cinema production spending anyway? I mean, even if I agreed with your point this would be a move towards improving it.
