Traitor is such a loaded word, and is misused in this context I think. A wife that leaves her abusive husband is a traitor. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and many others were traitors also.

If you need someone to answer that for you, just buy the Mac. I could think of several reasons why *I* would rather use the Linux desktop, with the principal reason being it's cheaper.

I think the big difference to me is the fact that BSD/GPL products specifically do not advertise any fitness to a particular service. They don't run TV commercials saying, you can use their product to play online with your friends, then later effectively shut down their online service unless you accept amended terms.

I don't see what your solution has to do with genetic variability created by natural selection, since this is clearly an artificially generated scenario. Call it anything else you like, but don't call it Darwinism. Personally, I favor a social anarchists solution whereby monopolies granted by patents are not allowed because they cost more to society than the value they provide.

Am I remembering incorrectly, but didn't RIM shut down the service during the riot and also allow police access to private messages in an attempt to suppress the riot? If I'm wrong, I blame people for reporting on hypotheticals.

They can throw a fit, but it won't really impede progress. I mean, we still *eat* animals and use their hides in shoes and handbags. Using mice for science is more ethical than cosmetic uses, and hardly every store carrying leather is affected by those nuts.

It's also not fair to compare Fox News to this type of situation. Fox News was created to present the conservative angle of the news without the need for fact checking. For them to acknowledge mistakes is antithetical to their core mission to "present the other side".

I'm sure they might have a reason, but nevertheless I'll agree. It shouldn't matter how well someone knows you. This is unacceptable behavior.
