Comment Turbotax deserves to be brought to heel (Score 2) 167

After the crap they pulled with the attempts to hide the free option and the constant up-sell that it's nearly impossible to remove without wiping your work out and starting over, not to mention the number of things that disqualify you from the free version without warning, I would absolutely love to see a free alternative. I hope the states follow suit.

Comment AITA? Yes. I will be. (Score 2) 293

Enough. I'm going to start putting 0%. Legally the employers have to make up for anything less than minimum wage and I'm tired of freeing them to screw over an employee having an off day or dealing with more tables than they should have to. It's going to hurt the servers, but someone has to fire the first shot.

Comment Does anyone trust Google/Alphabet products anymore (Score 1) 51

The only reason people use Chrome and Gmail are because they're free. Companies pay for their custom gmail domains, but they keep an eye on the exits in case they need to change email services.

If it isn't a browser (to view ads), an email service (to deliver ads), or an advertising service (to auction ads), Google has no interest in it past version 1.0 and the PR buzz that brings.

Frankly, I'm amazed they haven't stuck a fork in ChromeOS yet.
