Which is pretty much what they offered her before the dumb bitch thought a jury would not rule against her and decided to go to trial. She probably thought a "jury of her peers" would consist of the people on whatever internet forums she hung out on. The ones who, either before or after the fact, convinced her that there is absolutely nothing wrong with downloading music for free.

Submission + - Youtube gets landslide of pr0n (bbc.co.uk)

Giles writes: "In what is apparently a (rather poor) protest against Youtube's deletion of music videos, a few hundred videos beginning with inoffensive family content before being interrupted by more, ahem, "mature content" have been posted — apparently with a number of users standing by to give them high ratings straight away."

Submission + - SPAM: Malware knocks out U.S. Marshals Service network

coondoggie writes: "Malware Wednesday crippled Windows-based computer systems at the U.S. Marshals Service, which hunts federal fugitives and operates the country's witness protection program, knocking the agency's network offline. The agency's press office confirmed it was having network problems and that its e-mail system was down this morning, but it was unclear if the outage extended across the entire network. The press office said a statement would be issued today, but has yet to be released. [spam URL stripped]"

LKML Summary Podcast 41

Jon Masters writes "I've started recording a daily summary podcast of Linux Kernel Mailing List (LKML) traffic. It's in MP3 format (for the benefit of car stereos, including my empeg, and iPhone/iPod users) with an Ogg Vorbis format version to follow next week, and text versions of the script I read from will be available too for those who want to help with translation — or just prefer not listening to audio. It's an experiment at this stage and may not continue to be daily in the longer term unless I can build a team of willing volunteers to help find items worth including from the day's traffic, write the daily script, record it, and so forth. But it's proving to be a useful exercise in forcing myself to be up to date with LKML. I've had around 5,000 downloads in a first several days, and a lot of positive feedback, so I think this is filling a void and may prove to be useful. If you'd like to help get involved drop me a line at kernel-podcast@jonmasters.org, or tweet @kernelpodcast."

Race Car Made With Veggies And Powered By Chocolate 83

IS4110 writes "A new racing car made with potatoes and carrots and powered with chocolate waste has been developed by the Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre of the University of Warwicks in the UK. The university's vehicle, called WorldFirst F3 project, has a steering wheel made of curran, a material derived from carrots, that is expected to replace glass fiber and carbon fiber. It also has a racing seat made of SoyFoam, a soybean oil-based, flexible foam material. Wing mirrors incorporate materials derived from potato starch, a bib made from flax fiber, and lubricants based on plant oils."
