Except that people's expectations are different. The average person knows that when they shout on a public street, others can hear you. On the other hand, the average person would expect that their data transmissions are private. I know the difference may not be a legal standard, but people's expectations about privacy, however unrealistic, cannot be simply dismissed.

Mind you, I'm not saying you're wrong, but people's feelings make this issue somewhat more complex.

Ink for my Canon Pixma is only $15 for the official ink. There are 6 different inks, but each lasts longer than my mother's HP cartridges and I print more than she does.

On the other hand, HP's model is like the razor model: give away the printers cheap and charge an arm and a leg for the ink. Mind you, the printers are cheap pieces of excrement.

Endangered Species Condoms 61

The Center for Biological Diversity wants to help put a polar bear in your pants with their endangered species condom campaign. They hope that giving away 100,000 free Endangered Species Condoms across the country will highlight how unsustainable human population growth is driving species to extinction, and instill the sexual prowess of the coquí guajón rock frog, nature's most passionate lover, in the condom users. From the article: "To help people understand the impact of overpopulation on other species, and to give them a chance to take action in their own lives, the Center is distributing free packets of Endangered Species Condoms depicting six separate species: the polar bear, snail darter, spotted owl, American burying beetle, jaguar, and coquí guajón rock frog."

It never fails that after working any place for a while, they give out shirts (usually t-shirt, but occasionally polo) to help morale or boost web traffic (or just because some manager suggested it). The only problem with my current employer is that the dress regulations don't allow me to wear the company shirt at work.
