When reading these sentences, I saw Jim and Hilda Bloggs, the elderly couple from “when the wind blows” telling this before my inner eye.
I hate to think about these things again after nearly 40 years, I feel as if I have to throw up.

Comment Seizing airplanes (Score 1) 191

Seizing airplanes would mean breaking the Cape Town Treaty, that guarantees reposession of the airplanes leased.
This would mean that no Russian airline will be able to lease an airplane, again, after the situation has calmed down. (And not only airplanes.)

Seizing - and operating - the airplanes in a situation where no proper maintenance is possible (because of sanctions on materials and staff) would mean that they are left in an unknown state.
Even if Russia decided to return them afterwards, they will be of no value anymore. No one in their right mind would sign off for them and they could not be used on any routes outside of Russia, if at all.

If the airplanes are not reposessed on time, we are witnessing the end of Russian aviation.
