Journal Journal: Batch reply to Obama apoligists 30

One views with amusement the rhetorical devices employed to tweak the record, as though it were a jobs report.
We have most recently

you insist that he is somehow different from any of his predecessors

You attention is drawn to the CBO deficit chart. Recall that, while it's always been Progressive, it's been the Democrat flavor since 2006. If you're too daft to note the substantial difference, I may not be able to help you.

So if I filed charges against you this afternoon for murdering me - even though I am very much alive - you would prefer a trial than simply overlooking it as meaningless, or asking to have the charges thrown out?

First of all, we'd have to establish that actual mental activity is occurring. Not sure I can hire a good enough shyster for that. Second, sure: I'd counter-sue for you completely wasting my time. Yet at no point would such a legal strawman mean much.

That you have yet to provide a meaningful clam[sic] to make a huge crisis out of.

Ain't up to me, bub. You just keep pluckin' that chicken.

Journal Journal: Wayne LaPierre offers lucidity 19

This is a litmus test for sanity:

Now, we must speak ... for the safety of our nation's children. Because for all the noise and anger directed at us over the past week, no one â" nobody â" has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face: How do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works?
The only way to answer that question is to face up to the truth. Politicians pass laws for Gun-Free School Zones. They issue press releases bragging about them. They post signs advertising them.
And in so doing, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are their safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk.
How have our nation's priorities gotten so far out of order? Think about it. We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, courthouses â" even sports stadiums â" are all protected by armed security.
We care about the President, so we protect him with armed Secret Service agents. Members of Congress work in offices surrounded by armed Capitol Police officers.
Yet when it comes to the most beloved, innocent and vulnerable members of the American family â" our children â" we as a society leave them utterly defenseless, and the monsters and predators of this world know it and exploit it. That must change now!
The truth is that our society is populated by an unknown number of genuine monsters â" people so deranged, so evil, so possessed by voices and driven by demons that no sane person can possibly ever comprehend them. They walk among us every day. And does anybody really believe that the next Adam Lanza isn't planning his attack on a school he's already identified at this very moment?
How many more copycats are waiting in the wings for their moment of fame â" from a national media machine that rewards them with the wall-to-wall attention and sense of identity that they crave â" while provoking others to try to make their mark?

But let me double down, for the terminally Progressive:

SEEN ON FACEBOOK:
âoeWhat is the gun community going to do about this tragedy?â
âoeI dunno. What is the gay community going to do about Penn State?â

Well, clearly the "gay community" is going have some festive burst of fiscal fauxtrage about how we have plenty of time to mourn, but no time to locate resources for physical security.

Journal Journal: Questions for gungrabbers 40

Via http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/159800/
SO IF WEâ(TM)RE GOING TO HAVE A âoeNATIONAL CONVERSATION ON GUNS,â HERE ARE SOME OPENERS:
  • Why do people who favor gun-control call people who disagree with them murderers or accomplices to murder? Is that constructive?
  • Would any of the various proposals have actually prevented the tragedy that is the supposed reason for them?
  • When you say you hope that this event will finally change the debate, do you really mean that you hope you can use emotionalism and blood-libel-bullying to get your way on political issues that were losers in the past?
  • If youâ(TM)re a media member or politician, do you have armed security? Do you have a permit for a gun yourself? (Iâ(TM)m asking you Dianne Feinstein!) If so, what makes your life more valuable than other peopleâ(TM)s?
  • Do you know the difference between an automatic weapon and a semi-automatic weapon? Do your public statements reflect that difference?
  • If guns cause murder, why have murder rates fallen as gun sales have skyrocketed?
  • Have you talked about âoeFast and Furious?â Do you even know what it is? Do you care less when brown people die?
  • When you say that âoeweâ need to change, how are you planning to change? Does your change involve any actual sacrifice on your part?

Let me know when youâ(TM)re ready to talk about these things. Weâ(TM)ll have a conversation.

Journal Journal: Dodging Bullets 41

The president has been careful to avoid direct attacks on gun rights. But if he gets to replace just one of the five justices who made up the Heller and McDonald majorities, Second Amendment jurisprudence is likely to be strangled in its crib.
Two of those justices, Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy, will be octogenarians by the time Obama's second term ends. If they outlast him, our constitutional liberties will have dodged a bullet.

Journal Journal: An Hour With Sandra Fluke 12

If I'd an hour with Sandra Fluke,
I'd read to her from the Gospel of Luke,
To watch the jeering Jezebel puke,

And take some bets on the time it took,
Though such mark me a Christian crook.
These days we all need a little book,

As the economy has us down on our luck,
Since the Fickle Finger of 'Fairness' struck,
And the President: he don't give a bother.

Journal Journal: If Petraeus doesn't run for POTUS on the 2016 GOP ticket. . . 23

. . .I don't know how I'm going to muster enthusiasm to fall in line for the conservative Charlie Brown parade.
After John McCain and Mitt Romney, I really need somebody with the stature and courage of DP to call for another head-on charge at Lucy, clutching balls the way she does, only to offer another grotesque yank at the last second, letting conservatives fall down, gasping. Again. For another four years. In the name of Progress.
Ah, political fantasy football.
