<Internal Meeting>"We've released a statement explaining it was a mistake, but the many mirror sites already have it. Now there is a driver that miners can use to buy our GPU cards and keep demand up so we can raise the prices with each new card release." </Internal Meeting>

Comment Double Edged Sword (Score 1) 19

This sounds like a "Let's Encrypt" for software development signing. Honestly, I think it is a great thing. So many times I've had to install unsigned drivers from opensource projects. It never makes me feel good. With the cost of even the cheapest code signing certificates could be prohibitive many small open-source projects.

I'm just interested in how SigStore will protect itself from nefarious users. This could go really badly if it isn't done well. I'm not sure if there is a right way to do it without some human(costly) interaction.

Comment Stop changing the GUI! (Score 5, Insightful) 239

You want normal people to adopt the new OS faster? STOP CHANGING THE GUI! This is the main stumbling block for every new major version of Windows. It is the relearning of the user interface. This is a waste of time and money for both consumers and businesses.

Most consumers don't care about backend changes. And unless they are a hardcore gamer, they don't care about DirectX/Vulcan support either. As long as their X,Y, and Z programs still run, that's all you need.

The limited GUI changes in Mate version changes is one of the reason's I love Linux Mint Mate, I can upgrade and get VERY little GUI changes between each version.

I don't have to spend time and energy to relearn things I readily knew to do before. This goes for every user out there.

Interested wording for a former employee taking advantage of the possible better opportunity at another employer. It almost sounds like the former employer felt that the former employee was their property. The former employer seems to think that employees are property or owes the employer anything. This sounds like the employer thought that the employee was a slave.

Comment Work from home favors the the better off (Score 3, Insightful) 52

Work from home favors the better off. The poor don't necessarily have a good/dedicated space to do work. They also may not be able to get reliable/fast enough internet/utility connections. Also, the minor day to day issues at home are harder to ignore and deal with when you get home when your child/significant other is right next to you or talking through the door to your home office.

Not NetFlix's fault. I'm sure they would love to have it back. The BBC is notorious for jumping providers / rolling their own to get the best deal. It makes it shitty for the customer, especially the non-British customers.
