Actually you can get the update version online for Windows 7 for around 78 bucks. That will update you from Windows XP to Windows 7. You can always download openoffice for windows if you need an office suite or adobe reader for PDF. Those are free just the time to download and install. :) And no I am not a windows only fan as I use Linux at home and work.

Good luck with that. Welfare in Illinois gives mothers more money if they have more kids. Been that way for the last 30 years. I think if people have kids they should have to pay. I do. My kids are in private school and I still have my property taxes paying to upkeep the public schools where I wouldn't want my kids attending. The people who use the service should be the ones paying for it. Enough said.

You were able to use Vonage and Comcast? When Comcast took over my cable internet magically around the time they started offering their own phone service my Vonage service became unusable. I also have no choice but to have them for ISP as there are no other broadband providers in my area. Verizon is not interested in offering their DSL in my area due to the cheap ass copper lines. Some choice. Internet or no internet are my 2 options. Satellite won't work without a phone line (no longer have hard wire phone) plus trying to game with it is impossible.

I may have missed a previous comment but have the theorists considered that possibly when both Voyager spacecraft went beyond the solar system they poked a hole causing this phenomena? The article does say it seems to be between where both of the Voyager spacecraft exited the solar system. It would be a sick fate if they cause a reaction that would destroy said universe?

Also the DIY rig will be cheaper in most cases versus the store bought equivalent. I game plus do other things and I always get a better deal on building my own system versus buying the same price dell. Dell has its place but not on my desk at home as it would not perform even close to what I built for gaming and apps.

My Question is will this stop Comcast from messing with users like me (previous) that were using Vonage for phone service? Since they came out with their own phone service my connection to Vonage couldn't stay connected for a conversation without dropouts and lags and echos. My previous provider (same system) I never had problems and I was a customer since 2002. I have since dropped Vonage and went totally cellular. The only thing that sucks is I can't fax from home anymore. :( I have a feeling this will create more issues then it resolves. Hell I can't even play World of Warcraft on it anymore. 10 mb down and 1 up. Too much latency. What a joke!!!

Well here is another idea. Instead of wasting f***ing trillions of dollars on this health care takeover... I mean reform (LMAO) we could use that money for the space program. NASA does need to learn how to live within its means but for this administration to cut funding or otherwise mess with NASA is a huge mistake.

M$ has realized if they stop the FUD and show an honest cooperation by doing this to show they are not out to destroy Linux which would be a huge bad PR move. Instead by doing this they look good. I am still curious on how this benefits them though. Does this keep them out of antitrust lawsuits somehow? M$ never does anything like this unless they are either forced to or are trying to get something in return. We will have to watch and wait.

The customers should and do have a right to be picky though. Look at the cost of the system to a comparable PC. If I purchased one I would expect it to live up to its hype and not just look the part. As someone who does work in IT we all know about the unexplained faults that were really user errors. From all the news about the iphone GS getting hot to this I am damn glad I didn't buy one.

I found this post interesting. Why? Because I am a Comcast subscriber that came on through a buyout. I use Vonage for my house phone. As soon as Comcast announced their phone service my Vonage service has been spotty at best. With the addition of more on demand content now the internet is slower. I have complained to them and had them replace cables and do tests. Magically things get resolved for a day or 2 at most then back to the same ole drop outs and slow internet. If I had another choice I would drop them like a bad habit. I originally had @ home and it was great. My local cable company (when they were local) took over and things were better. Went from 6 to 10 g down and up to 1 G up. Comcast buys em out and things have gone down hill. Not just me but all my neighbors have the same issues. You call and they just don't care. Just pay the bill or they will shut you off.
