As are you.

I have no problem calling out someone for being an asshole, but it's always directed towards the action, not the person. And that, good sir (or ma'am, or whatever), was an asshole comment. I was being a smart ass, I fully expected to be modded down. I don't care, I've got plenty of karma to burn. But there's no reason to be a dickhead about it.

Why is it that type of signature always follows a comment as dumb as that one that you typed up there? Like, did it make sense in your head, but you just struggled to put it into words? "People who support diversity are the most racist." I just don't see how any rational thought would result in that string of words being written.

I'm assuming your router doesn't charge you anything to enable the feature.

I don't know. Based on their comment, I'd say their router probably does charge them extra for that feature. And they are happy about it.

The problem here is ISPs could conceivably fuck up your gaming latency on purpose, and then charge an extra monthly fee for a special feature that unfucks it.

Anyone who doesn't see that this is the desired result has got their head up their ass. Or maybe they expect, contrary to 150 years of prior evidence, that the Telcos will suddenly become altruistic?

Where I'm at, there are a number of "uphill" onramps with short merge zones. And a shit load of "on-off" interchanges, think a cloverleaf type, where the people trying to come up to highway speeds are sharing the same lane as the people who are coming down from freeway speeds to try and negotiate a 270 degree turn. Here's one of the more egregious ones in my area. 35w and 694 are both 65 MPH. You get 500 feet to accelerate from 25-35MPH up to 65-75MPH, all while avoiding the people who are doing the opposite.

I drive a Gen-6 Legacy, which (allegedly) has 170HP. On the uphill entrances, and the stupid fucking cloverleafs, it's about all that car can do to hit 65-75 before requiring to merge. It's definitely underpowered, and can be frustrating. But, you are accurate in your assessment, that frustration isn't (all) the car. It's the idiots around here that don't know how to design a freeway interchange.

At least we're getting into requirements now. You need to get up to speed in a reasonable time to get onto the freeway. Yeah, a 100hp car isn't going to get the job done as well as it should. It'll get you there, but not without frustration. A 300hp sedan will be just as sufficient for that task as the Hellcat, without being violently overkill

I run a quad core junk processor from 2018, it currently still meets my needs just fine. If MS forces my hand and makes me upgrade to keep Windows supported I'll probably end up rocking a octa-core junk processor from 2020. I just don't need the latest and greatest, it's a waste of money for me.

2 out of 5. As a "home gamer", and sole user of my computer, I'm comfortable enough with my Internet hygiene and security posture with my home network that it's a low risk.

But if you're travelling for work (like I am) you may need by policy side pillar airbags, which is precisely the reason I wasn't allowed to use my car for company business and had to get a new lease car.

I mean, ok, that's fine. If your company requires you to use a specific OS, or a car with side pillar air bags, that's a completely different story. OPs argument is basically "if you're not using the most modern, most powerful, hardware possible you're a loser." which is a completely different argument. Their assertion is that you need the most power possible, without espousing a requirement for such a thing.

Also to your car analogy... Not everything in life is about power.

It wasn't my analogy, I was expanding on theirs. I agree with your point, not everything is about power, that was literally my argument.
