I have to agree here. Having battled for years to even have a child, I too went through this paranoid phase, trying to find a highly technical solution to a really simple problem. I settled for teaching my three year old both our cellular numbers as well as her home address which she can rattle off perfectly along with the definitions of who to speak to since strictly speaking she shouldn't be talking to strangers. Now at five years of age she unfortunately can quite successfully use a phone to dial more than just those two numbers!!!

Because people forget too easily. I'm with you on this one - I got screwed over by Sony so many times in the past I refuse to buy anything that bears the name. Same goes for Apple - litigious fucking bastards.

We do of course - the dumbass customers due to investor greed. As someone who took six months to wean us off Oracle saving craploads in the process, moving to Netbeans and Glassfish - I'm right back where I started - except for the (PostgreSQL) database - thank god for that choice! No company in its right mind will properly support all the acquired app servers and databases when they can have a single cash cow to milk daily. Fuck Oracle!

After our budgets were slashed to pieces, I implemented the exact same setup for my Glassfish cluster and it works like a charm. Only difference is that I used HAProxy instead of LVS.
