Comment Re: Finally, a convincing argument (Score 0) 88

What about the big media needing a vote (in the future) to get some other law passed. They donâ(TM)t want you to know. All they will have to do is censure your access to any site with a different opinion. This isnâ(TM)t just about ways for them to make more money by charging extra for your Netflix people. This is the beginning of censure and propaganda that once in place will make it impossible to see the truth.

Comment Re: Why are they connected at all? (Score 0) 101

The reason they get connected is simple. The utilities have to lower costs and become leaner to compete with alternative energy source specialty companies. This is done through a combination of purchasing portions of the newer technologies, read green power, and modernizing the old. Things like maintenance checks and normal operation can be done remotely thus saving huge amounts on labor. Computerized modernization also allows them to optimize supply vs demand along with refreshing obsolete failing infrastructure. The stakes are high for these companies and they figure (probably incorrectly) that they can secure it. I donâ(TM)t think itâ(TM)s worth the risk, but thatâ(TM)s basically imo why itâ(TM)s happenening

Comment because the beta ios 11 force quit is so poor (Score 0) 285

This is nothing more than an excuse for how poorly implemented the multi app selection screen is on IOS 11. It's really bad. no longer able to just fling an app off the screen. now you have to press hold select, then tap the little x just like deleting apps on the main screens.

Comment and they removed the battery time remaining (Score 0) 268

Everyone seems to think this is a scam article by CR. It actually plays right in with Apple. Remember 3 weeks ago they removed the "highly inaccurate" time remaining indicator from OS/X. Now I realize it was because the new MBP was so random at battery usage they had no choice. It wasn't the indicator that was the problem, it was the MBP. The CR report just backs that up...completely.

Submission + - Comapny disables software of buyer who posted "bad" review

Brymouse writes: Ham Radio Deluxe, a $99 radio control and logging program popular in the amateur radio community, disabled the software of a user after he posted a potentially bad review (was 3/5 stars, now 1/5). Further this user was directed to install the update which disabled the application by HRD's own support.

The original thread was then deleted from "news" site QRZ.com as HRD is a major advertiser and complained about copyright violations from the user posting a PDF of his support ticket. Reddit picked it up here and more research was done showing a pattern of blacklisting bad reviews.

This was picked up by Jason Scott, of the internet archive, on twitter and Ham Radio Deluxe threatened him with libel for posting it.

As of yesterday HRD says an offical statement will be "coming soon". The Strieisand Effect continues with QRZ.com undeleting the threads and HRD still trying to claim copyright on their customers support ticket.
