it would cost some money, as lutron stuff isn't cheap, but it could be made to work.

I work construction in canada, and while we use Imperial most of the time, I actually find it a relief when we work a government job, and get to work metric. on a metric tape, you've only got mils, and they're way closer together than 32nds.
most of the time you're only working to the half a cent anyway, and you do way less low level math.
(and the code's written in metric here, so it's a bit easier to get things spot on code)

I would say that opinion of canadian taxes is a bit misguided.
yes, when you work overtime the portion of taxes coming off your cheque is higher, but you get most of that tax back when you file your return. (unless you work overtime all the time, and that's just the way it goes with a progressive income tax, you'd see the same increase in taxes if you worked straight time, but got an increased pay rate)

I dunno, we had a provincial government get into power here in BC largely on the campaign promise (which they kept, to their credit) of discarding our photo-radar system.
