Comment Re:So, it's not for existing Xbox One owners (Score 1) 190

I"m disagreeing with you on this one.

As an owner of MS and Sony consoles the new XBOX is a monumental leap in quality, display, and functionality from the current generation. More power, better graphics, and getting rid of that bloody power brick hanging out the back and removing the ridiculous Kinect are all features that I want. 4K gaming to have betterer graphics "forcing" me to get a 4K HDR OLED TV (MERRY CHRISTMAS!) so I can view everything I want in crisp, clean, detail and play those same games with betterer graphics with my friends who are on Xbox Live.

Is this console for PC Gaming Master Race? No. Is this console for Grognards who are using Green Screen scripting COBOL code? No. Is this console for those of you that don't have any input better RGBYW 5 cable input on the back of their CRT/Projection TV? No. This is a console that is going to get 4K shoved into the home for good and push the envelope for Sony to put out the next iteration of the Playstation.

I say Good. Let Sony vs. MS compete on specs every 2-3 years and let me pass down the last generation to someone else who needs it as it'll play the same family of games but not as good.

Sure it only supported compact flash with an external kit you had to dock into it with, but it would allow me to play all my mp3s I had to download at school. There was even an Armband that you wore it on while exercising if needbe....i think.

All i remember is running miles with that thing blaring music into my ears that I couldn't get into another form factor at the time. Now? I wish I had a mini bluetooth mp3 player so I don't have to carry my phone around with me while running. It rains allot and water+iphone=bad.

That doesn't backup the 20TB of Linux ISO's I have stored away on my NAS/SAN. I need reliable portable, external, removable backups that I can shuffle to another location and restore when the array inevitably fails.

I bought a Dell T4000 (48 tapes) with dual LTO-4 for $500. Ridiculous overkill for my data but you know what, it'll back everything up and I can shuffle it to another location in a fireproof box that I don't have to trust Amazon, Google, or CloudBackupVendorX to restore my data from. Everything comes on a tape.

The 3-2-1 is the best backup solution for DataHoarder's period. Follow it and you will survive your array falling on you when it finally does.

This is not for personal use, this is not meant for your home user, this is not meant to be used in a singular environment for a single user. This is a BUSINESS/ACADEMIC plan to provide a piece of hardware that if(when) it breaks that you can get immediate replacement for it and when the hardware is outdated you get a new device you can reassign to another user without having to worry about recycling and asset management when the device has to be removed from circulation.

This is the same way cell phone providers are doing with their cell phones so people can keep upgrading to the new hotness and not have a drawer full of old cell phones that are 100% worthless.

This is not meant for the Grognard. This is not meant for the Hardware Hoarder. This is not meant for the Linux person who runs Gentoo on their dual celeron Abit motherboard. This is not for you, and I'm going to enjoy reading the hate (and the inevitable -9000 Flamebait) that this will entire article will degenerate into.
