BioShock 2's First DLC Already On Disc 466

An anonymous reader writes with this quote from 1Up: "Trouble is brewing in Rapture. The recently released Sinclair Solutions multiplayer pack for BioShock 2 is facing upset players over the revelation that the content is already on the disc, and the $5 premium is an unlock code. It started when users on the 2K Forums noticed that the content is incredibly small: 24KB on the PC, 103KB on the PlayStation 3, and 108KB on the Xbox 360. 2K Games responded with a post explaining that the decision was made in order to keep the player base intact, without splitting it between the haves and have-nots."

Has Apple Created the Perfect Board Game Platform? 531

andylim writes "recombu.com is running an interesting piece about how Apple has created a 'Jumanji (board game) platform.' The 9.7-inch multi-touch screen is perfect for playing board games at home, and you could use Wi-Fi or 3G to play against other people when you're on your own. What would be really interesting is if you could pair the iPad with iPhones, 'Imagine a Scrabble iPad game that used iPhones as letter holders. You could hold up your iPhone so that no one else could see your letters and when you were ready to make a word on the Scrabble iPad board, you could slide them on to the board by flicking the word tiles off your iPhone.' Now that would be cool."

Drag racing is probably the one exception to the rule, as its just a straight line and you don't have elevation changes, curves or other vehicles to worry about.

To me, drag racing is barely racing. Its more like an engineering display. Besides the launch, there isn't much for the driver to do but keep the wheel straight for 10 seconds or so.

Palm Pre and WebOS Get Native Gaming 49

rboatright writes "WebOS developers have been waiting, and with the 1.3.5 release, Palm's open source page suddenly listed SDL. Members of the WebOS internals team took that as a challenge and within 24 hours had a working port of Doom running in SDL on the Pre, in a webOS card. 48 hours later, they not only had Quake running, but had found in the latest LunaSysMgr the requirements to launch a native app from the webOS app launcher from an icon just like any other app. At the same time, the team demonstrated openGL apps running. With full native code support, with I/O available via SDL, developers now have a preview into Palm's future intent with regard to native code SDK's, and a hint of what's coming."

Best Man Rigs Newlyweds' Bed To Tweet During Sex 272

When an UK man was asked to be the best man at a friend's wedding he agreed that he would not pull any pranks before or during the ceremony. Now the groom wishes he had extended the agreement to after the blessed occasion as well. The best man snuck into the newlyweds' house while they were away on their honeymoon and placed a pressure-sensitive device under their mattress. The device now automatically tweets when the couple have sex. The updates include the length of activity and how vigorous the act was on a scale of 1-10.

Being CDMA only (for the time being) there are no SIM cards to swap. To activate the phone on Sprint's network (or any other CDMA network for that matter) they would have to take it into a store. That's probably why there wasn't a phone test yet.

2 hours isn't a problem. Porn movies aren't really known for their epic length. Well, not in minutes, anyway.

And so what if some actors get sick? You just make a different movie. There's an audience for everything (disturbingly)!

I agree that this was mainly an opportunity to test the SM-3. We keep hearing about how we've had an anti-satellite (ASAT) capability since 1975 and that the SM-3 is an anti-ballistic missile (ABM) device rather than ASAT. So, why didn't we use our ASAT capability? You would think that if we wanted to take out a satellite, we would have used our anti-satellite technology. The fact that we didn't is proof of your argument.

Submission + - Open Sourcing Healthcare Systems (nytimes.com)

330Pilot writes: The New York Times reports that Misys announced that it was taking its product for linking physicians' offices and hospitals, Misys Connect, and making it open source. There is no doubt that doctors and hospitals need to be able to share patient and clinical information to achieve efficiency gains and quality improvements. Yet hospitals and those physicians' offices with electronic health records — about a fourth of the nation's primary care doctors — use many different proprietary systems that often don't communicate with each other. The lack of interoperability, in technical terms, is a roadblock.
