See that glowing thing in front of you? The thing you're reading this on? It's just like little pictures of cats and pyramids scratched onto stone tablets, only we fixed it.
not really.. we upgraded it.
I think you're taking his statement a bit out of context. You can't compare earthbound "image display" technology, with technology that's built to work outside of our own atmosphere (or even high altitude for that matter.) Lives, and LOTS of taxpayer money are at risk. If NO computer technology was certified as safe, I can guarantee you that our cosmonauts would feel a lot safer with an abacus and slide rule, than with a computer on board that has potential for failure.
So yeah, in the context of this discussion: "If it's not broke don't fuck with it." If there is a need for an upgrade, then by all means fuck with it.. for a very long time, and make sure it is very safe before using it in a program where the fault tolerance is minimal to non-existent, in conditions not meant for human survival, AND before we put some of our brightest minds aboard said craft.
I'd certainly agree, yet UT3 is on the list of launch games, so they seem to think it's good enough.
My boss got in the beta and UT3 was the first game we tried. This was on a Mac Book Pro on a 40 Mb\s connection. I was pretty impressed. I asked for his report when he got home to Comcast, but that was a no go because his Desktop is using Wifi, and OnLive blocks you from playing across Wifi. Bummer.
If you are on a golf course, looking back at the tee-box, and someone yells, "FOOUR" at you - what do you do?
If the ball is coming from across an ocean I wouldn't duck.
Could a native English-speaker kindly explain it to this Ukrainian immigrant?
Sorry dude. I'd help you but I'm American (southern at that).
My own son gets a mixed result of surprise and disgust when he doesn't live up to the standards his appearance would dictate.
Amen. My best friend from middle school through high school (and beyond if he hadn't have passed on) had Muscular Dystrophy. He was physically retarded, not mentally. Our own wonderful school system even tried to put him in a "special ed" class. Idiots. Every time I hear someone refer to a mentally challenged individual as one of "Jerry's kids" I want to punch them in the face.
So when I donate to MDA, if some of that money goes to educating someone about MD, I'm all for it. It might even keep me out of jail one day.
Awareness is a fair use of of funds. Everyone is NOT as aware as they need to be. If it ever affects you personally.. you'll get it..
P.S. Buy an MDA Shamrock.
What a horrible summary.
What a horrible "article" with a horrible title.
As many have already pointed out, Google has no obligation to Scroogle. Do we really think they are the only ones affected by this? I doubt it. They only reason they aren't screaming at Google is because they understand that when you scrape another person's or company's website, you are at their mercy.
Anybody who's ever done any kind of scraping, web or otherwise, knows this.
God bless RSS.
mostly because (as the author of the format admits) the documentation blows.
Then get to work community! Someone is getting answers from somewhere. Isn't that why we're here?
