whoosh. ethanol adulterates (dilutes) gasoline in a bad way much as sawdust has been purportedly used as a filler to dilute the meat content in hot dogs (to very ill effect) in order to save money. the comparison falls short though because ethanol is arguably MORE expensive than gasoline, we just delude ourselves into thinking that it's better for the environment.

This is really a non-issue!

If a ban is passed the manufacture of 30-round magazines will be just as illegal as owning one. And the penalties are often far worse! To the tune of thousands of dollars and up to 10 years in federal prison. That's the way that it is now for machine guns and other NFA devices, and the way that it was during the previous ban.

I *could* grow pot and poppies and cocoa plants in my backyard with the intent of manufacturing drugs. This doesn't make it any more legal under current federal law, even if it's only for my own personal use. Still get to go to prison when I get caught.

the Chechnyans did pretty well with molotov coctails, which is just gelled fuel in a frangible delivery device. It doesn't outright destroy a tank, but it can make it pretty hard to target anything when the things on fire. Not to mention that it gets a might bit hot in that flaming metal box! I have no idea if the Abrams are susceptible to this though... they do have fire suppression systems and O2 on board. I would hope that no american soldier would fire on his own countryman without serious provocation. If it gets to the point where they're rolling tanks down main street I think that I'm leaving before I can find out!

the sad thing is: the difference in property and state income tax alone will probably get you that extra 20%. Then you throw in things like rent/mortgage being at least half if not a quarter of the cost here, and groceries being a whole lot cheaper, and your salary goes a lot further! Moving out of California is a lot like getting a 25% pay raise. And the cool thing is YOU can do whatever the hell you want with YOUR money that you saved. Let's see, just off the top of my head we have the norway shootings which were performed by illegal weapons, and many many many that go on every day in mexico despite everything being banned. "But Mexico got those guns in the US!" I hear you say? They did do that with the direct involvement of the ATF and Justice departments under operation "Fast and Furious." The gun dealers repeatedly called the ATF to cancel the sales, but were strong armed into cooperation with the threat of a lost license. I suspect that you are basing your Utopian dream of gun control on the UK and Australia. Neither country has shown a statistically significant decrease in the crime rates. http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/science-research-statistics/research-statistics/crime-research/hosb0611/hosb0611?view=Binary http://www.snopes.com/crime/statistics/ausguns.asp Any new legislation will not increase the safety of the average US person. It will cost more tax money to enforce these laws, in a society where law enforcement spending already eclipses most other budget items. Why don't we instead use our efforts and tax dollars to do something much more meaningful. Lets increase access to mental healthcare by rolling back the Reagan cuts. Adam might have been fine if he had been able to get help for his condition.
