If by "a lot" you mean a B12 supplement, you are still exaggerating. The only nutrient not available in plant form is B12, and it's remarkably easy to supplement... the RDA is less than 3mcg/day.

Educate yourself before pretending to be equipped to educate others.

I disagree. A culture of "sloppy and permissive software" is flawed at a very basic level. It's a failure to recognize the fact that the virtual window of your analogy will be smashed EVERY time. Eventually, actual bars are put over actual windows, to prevent break-ins if they are persistent.

With the level of automated tracking of all kinds available these days, there simply cannot be any forgiveness for a vendor who feels that the best response to a broken window is to, simply, leave it open.

I volunteer with a group that delivers foodbank items to those who cannot leave their residence for age or health reasons. Time is their sole resource need.

Don't disregard what you clearly haven't been troubled enough to look for. There are countless groups which have no need for your money, but depend on your time.

If you are of a mind that $10 can feed a family of four, why not donate both the cash to provide it and time in a shelter's kitchen to prepare it? Because volunteering time is probably not your thing and you can give cash. That's cool. If time is all someone has to offer... that's cool, too.

See... You were raised to believe that the shoe is your best option for your feet. It may not be the same shoe which others accept as their best option, but those who wear shoes generally accept that the shoe is "it" for footwear. You have not devoted your life to arguing for alternatives to shoes; nor have you devoted significant energy toward inventing something more appropriate. In all probability, you are aware that there are other styles of shoes, but those which you've always worn tend to be what you stick with.

The same is true of religion... You accept that the shoe is what you need and is what is best for you because that is all you've ever known. In terms of indoctrination, acceptance of religion is strikingly similar...

That's awful analogy number two... Unless you're prepared to develop a "tax-block" application, the advertising model doesn't fit as a comparison here.

The advertising models of the internet serve to prove that you CAN rape the willing. That's the only analogy which I see as being appropriate... and it's a right horrible analogy.

I'm curious to see what better (faster!) ideas appear on this thread... There have to be better ways.

Submission + - Corporations Sign Up to Track Location of Customer (technologyreview.com)

holy_calamity writes: "Technology Review reports on Loc-Aid, a startup that enables companies such as banks to get a location fix on the device associated with a customer's cell phone number. The company has built a system that integrates the phone-tracking capabilities of all the major North American wireless networks. Banks are using the service to check a person's location when their credit card triggers fraud alarms. Retailers are expected to use the service to offer location-specific deals and to analyse patterns in customer movements. A person must opt in before a company can use Loc-Aid's service to track their phone. Challenge Loc-Aid to locate your device using their online demo."
