A few weeks before this vote, the French Army confirmed a global contract with Microsoft, despite advise not to do so by a security commission, for technological and strategical independance reasons. Lobbies are still here, be reassured !

Sure. This is only a legal expectation: use an open-source license. That said, anybody can compete, and win on its own merit.

Well, the point is US corporations dominate the Internet an mobile phones industry (OS), and the reverse is not true. Being a foreign country citizen, this does really matter to me. Really, why are the US trying to hard to become the bad guy ? I am now wondering wether I might be better off using Kingsoft Office rather than MS Office, from a privacy point of view, can you imagine that ?!

I always wondered : when Microsoft has these special "show me the source" programs, does it mean that the final client also does compile Windows by itself for deployment ? Or is it more like, "hey, just have look, you see, nothing to be afraid of, trust us. Now take our binaries." ?

Mind, people outside the US are also citizens (of their own nations). And they deserve some privacy also. Regarding only basic self-interest, maybe these people will be thinking twice before using US driven technologies...

Don't know if this is true, but this is scary. I think many europeans can be depicted as atheists, and probably as well as communists regarding US standards ! Reminds me when I went to the USA and was asked by the customs services if I was in relation with "communists"... Well... God bless America :-)

I liked this one ! Innovation on the Internet never really came from "the free market" and stating otherwise is pure ideology. It came from the ARPA, universities, the CERN, RFCs, etc... Profit minded companies mainly used the Internet and would really love to rule it, but did they bring innovation ? Seriously ?

Not even necessary... I use it as a day to day desktop, and I must say I just couldn't work on Windows. MacOS X is cool too, but I miss the free software library Linux has...

Yes, so true. There are so many moments in my life where I think: "My gun is so useful here, in the subway. I'm glad I got one with me every day ! This tool is perfect, hope nobody will screw it up with stupid controls"... Reading US comments feels really exotic to me.

This statement ignores that at some point that capital (I don't understand why they separate the concepts of capital and land ownership) was purchased with the results of productive activity. Instead of buying food, or theatre tickets, or going on a vacation, the capitalist bought something that holds value.

Or they the land was taken by force by an ancestor and inhereted. This argument stand as long as capital is the fruit of one's work. This might be the case, but no so aften I think...

I suggest you read this enlightning entry in the Anarchist FAQ: http://www.infoshop.org/AnarchistFAQSectionC2#secc23 , called "Is owning capital a sufficient reason to justify profit". You may not share their views, but at least this is an argumented point.
