If only there was some advanced computer technique that would take a huge amount of real world experience and distill it into a form where it could be used to plan projects and avoid things like resource allocation issues, then it might be possible for an organization to ensure that it's goals could be met and it would be successful.

Maybe it could be called synthetic brainpower or automated thinking or something like that. It might be really useful if it could be done.

Don't be fooled. Between some sort of direct government bail out and/or tax break the executive suite and board of directors will be completely insulated from any economic downside. Meanwhile all sorts of other people, like their workers and business partners will end up taking a hit. "Sorry, no raise for you, and unfortunately our rates will go up because shareholder value", i.e business speak for protecting the fortunes of the corrupt fools at the top.

As for compensating the clients who actually got screwed, forget it. The only goal is to protect the company from the inevitable lawsuits. The emergency payouts will not come close to covering the real cost to those who were effected. Many will not get what they should have in the first place and the process required to prove loss will be opaque, complex and put the burden of proof on the victims. "Your claim is denied because you can't prove that not being able to afford your medication was the direct cause of ending up in the ER and loosing your left foot. And your carrier is canceling your coverage because you are a bad risk since you don't follow protocol, which we can prove since you had to go into the ER. Also it's not our responsibility to pay the ER bill because it wasn't in network."

You must be new to this whole computer/internet/smartphone/21st century thing. They will always rip you off in the long run. Whatever extra cashflow is extracted doesn't lower prices, it increases the profit margin and has no impact on what you pay.

You only exist to be squeezed to whatever extent they can get away with. 21st century capitalism always trends to extortion.

This is straight out of the 1930s German Nazi playbook. Forcing people to register was the first step in implementing the extermination camps.

The Republican Party is fully fascist. It has an authoritarian agenda and is anti-democracy. The fact that some Republicans are not fascist is irrelevant because the party apparatus is controlled by extremists. Anti-MAGA/Trump voters who still adhere to the party are offering cover for the extremest elements. We are far beyond the point of their being a middle ground. Rejecting the Republicanism is the only way to support democracy and our constitutional form of government. This may not be true in the future, but it is the de facto situation right now.

Astra Space had reverse-split its shares in September 2023 where 15 shares were reduced to just one share, to get the share price to jump 15-fold to keep it from getting delisted for a while even as the shares continued to collapse. The reverse split gave them ample room to collapse into without having to deal with fractional pennies.

But we’re not amused, said the stock jockeys that hadn’t gotten out in time. Or maybe they were amused. Maybe, it’s just one big video game. SPACs, meme stocks, cryptos, Nvidia, I mean, look, we’re all just having fun.

No fair comparison is possible. The test miles are very curated and don't reflect the full range of conditions that human drivers contend with on a daily basis.

One obvious difference is that the test cities all have mostly good weather. It's true for both SF and LA, and even other places like Phoenix where open road tests have been run. Not much rain and no snow at all. Also all very urban and built up suburban.

I wouldn't want to be in or near any of these anywhere else in the country. Imagine heavy rain or sleet or even fog. The sensors can't handle bad weather. What about wind whipping up fall leaves, perhaps when it's raining?

I doubt the economics of self driving cars is sustainable when limited to the southwest corner of the US. This technology has a huge way to go, and there are going to be a whole lot of very unhappy investors along the way.
