Submission + - Thailand's military increases net censorship 400%

James Hardine writes: Wikileaks has released the entire secret internet censorship lists of Thailand's military Junta together with an analysis. Since the military coup of September 19 last year, the Ministry of Communications & Technology has increased the number of censorsed sites from 2,328 to 11,329. The fifth official order of the coup leader on the day after the coup was to censor the Internet. However, the ICT Minister, Dr. Sitthichai Pokaiyaudom, has been variously quoted in the Thai press making statements that, since coming to office in October 2006 as "Official Censor of the Military Coup", his Ministry has blocked "only two", "five" or "about a dozen" websites. Additionally, on Sep 16 the popular website thaijustice.com was shutdown with this injunction.

Wikileaks Breaks $3 Billion Corruption Story 206

James Hardine writes Wikileaks, the website for whistleblowers, has broken one of the world's biggest corruption stories in the international press (Guardian, BBC, Forbes, Sydney Morning Herald). The site has leaked a secret report on looting by ex-president Moi of Kenya — and possibly altered the outcome of an impending national election. Moi has become a key player in political life in Kenya, and is now an essential pillar in President Kibaki's campaign for re-election in December 2007. From the Wikileaks page: 'The suppressed auditor's report reveals that currency worth billions of US dollars was looted from Kenya by President Moi and his associates. The money was laundered across the world and includes properties and shell companies in London, New York and South Africa and even a 10,000 hectare ranch in Australia.'"

Submission + - Wikileaks breaks US$3 Billion corruption story (wikileaks.org)

James Hardine writes: "Holy cow. Wikileaks, the web-site for whistleblowers has broken one of the world's biggest corruption stories in the international press (Guardian, BBC, Forbes, Sydney Morning Herald and others) by leaking a secret report by noted Enron auditor Kroll Associates and possibly altered the outcome of a impending national election.

The suppressed auditor's report reveals that currency worth billions of U.S dollars was looted from Kenya by President Moi and his associates. The money was laundered across the world and includes properties and shell companies in London, Newyork and South Africa and even a 10,000 hectare ranch in Australia.

The countries involved in facilitating the transfer of the stolen government money nclude Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Dubai, Finland, Germany, Grand, Cayman, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Liberia, Luxembourg, Malawi, Namibia, the Netherlands, Puerto, Rico, Russia, Somalia, South, Africa, Sudan, Switzerland, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States and Zaire.

The sums are comparable in magnitude to the looting of infamous kleptocrats such as Mobutu (Zaire), Marcos (Philippines), Abacha (Nigeria), Suharto (Indonesia) and Fujimori (Peru). The leaked material is extremely politically sensitive. Ex-President Moi has become a key player in political life in Kenya, and is now an essential pillar in President Kibaki's campaign for re-election in December 2007."
