Or have to dodge a driver who pulled out in front of you, avoid a child running into a street chasing a ball, correct a slide on black ice so that you don't spin the car into a tree, etc...

Knowing how to handle those situations is admirable. Claiming you shouldn't have those skills because you shouldn't be in the situation is not what I would describe as "driving defensively". Full disclosure, I have played GT series since the first one came out and I have been driving for 8 years now, 0 accidents, 0 tickets.

Yet we have been expecting self-driving cars since the 70's. Man is driven by the irrational fear of being not in control. Our minds are programed to think we can do better for ourselves than relying on another to not screw up.

Self driving cars = public transit. I highly doubt we will see self driving cars for individuals for at least another 50 years.

If plans were taken as you suggest, then the plans were stolen, not the IP. Building their own aircraft from those plans is still infringement, not theft. I suggest it is you who is playing semantics, not the GP.

Part of the reason our IP laws are so useless and convoluted is because people call it theft and piracy, to elicit an emotional response, instead of calling it what it really is.
