Unlike many other commenters, I have lived in other states for years.
$0.54 / gallon STATE tax on gasoline, and yet the roads are not great, 13.3% personal tax, while we have a deficit, and not receiving anything worth 13% of income. +$97B surplus, being used to buy votes, with the high taxes and public debt. 7.25% state sales tax, with some counties up to +9%, again, for small a return.. The weather is great, IF you can afford to live with twenty miles of the Pacific OR in the Sierra. Otherwise, you get hot dry windy Summers, cold dry windy Winters. Politicians that favor criminals over victims. Broadband is far from universal, with may rural areas still not having cable, just 3Mb/1Mb ADSL if that much. Publicly funded universities, that lack the capacity to teach all eligible CA residents, and yet have quotas for international students.
