Its about as much the norm as having to replace an ICE engine/gearbox. Like with everything man made, nothing is perfect, you can get what looks like a "battery fault" that stops the car going but the real fault can be something like a failed solder on one of the battery controller boards.

They should get paid for joining up and could make enough to get free charging throughout the year. Costs do have to come down for the equipment though which will happen once installations ramp up
