I still don't buy it. Even if they shaved their connections down to dedicated peering between 2 extremely expensive routers. We are still talking about routers. Layer 3 traffic is just not suited for low latency. When you look at a router ping time in the billionths of a second time frame, that ping will be jittering all over the place.

Sounds like a scam to sell "monster cables" to high priced wall street types. I like it! Sure its a billionth of a second faster . . . but thats well within margin of error when your bottleneck is sitting on data packets for 100ms+

Wow. I could have read this exact same comment 20 years ago. These two new consoles represent a huge leap, both in terms of disk IO, and CPU power. You're right about Xbox One though . . . it really wasn't worth it over 360.

VR is doing absolutely fine. "Not making any fatcats loads of dough" is not equivalent to "dieing." Yes, it may always be a niche market. But we will be absolutely fine with that. Just like I'm fine with my Racing Simulator or FPGA console being a niche market. Even if hardware support does die out completely, there are a LOT of headsets out in the wild for us to tinker with until the rest of the world finally catches on :) (and yes, I'm still tinkering with CRT tech from 20 years ago too)

Even if by some miracle they have gotten the latency down to 50ms, any rhythm game would still be unplayable! They are actively sabotaging themselves with that one . . .
